🌊 A Change of Venue — And Some BIG Advantages!

One change that we were forced to make for this year’s event was moving off the beach and into the pavilion behind the boardwalk.

Unfortunately, there will be dredging going on directly behind the hotel, and the beach will be inaccessible during this year’s event.

But we’re looking at the bright side!

You won’t need to pack your canopy!

That’s right.

You also won’t need to spend money renting that space this year.

Instead, simply:

Bring your chair.
Bring your cooler.
Find your spot under the pavilion.
And save it for the entire weekend!

There’s plenty of shade, and the breeze coming off the water through the area is quite refreshing.

It’s also a more intimate venue to enjoy your favorite artists.

☀️ We’ve Used This Pavilion Before!

This pavilion has always been our backup plan in case of inclement weather.

We’ve used this location at South Beach Hotel & Suites for our “And We Drink” Music Festival for the last two years, and it has been fantastic!

So while the location may be different this year, we’re confident you’re going to love it.

🌊 A Change of Venue… With Some BIG Advantages!

One change that we were forced to make for this year’s event was moving off the beach and into the pavilion behind the boardwalk.

Unfortunately, there will be dredging going on directly behind the hotel, which means the beach will be inaccessible during this year’s festival.

But here’s the good news…

You won’t need to pack your canopy!

And you won’t have to spend money renting canopy space this year either!

Instead, simply bring your chairs and coolers, head to the pavilion, and claim your spot for the entire weekend.

There is plenty of shade, and the breeze coming off the water through the area is quite refreshing. It’s also a more intimate setting where you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your favorite artists.

And there’s another reason we’re pretty comfortable with this change…

☀️ We’ve Used This Pavilion Before!

The pavilion has always been our backup plan in case of inclement weather.

In fact, we’ve used this same location at South Beach Hotel & Suites for our “And We Drink” Music Festival for the last two years — and it has been fantastic!

So while the location may be different this year, we’re confident that it will provide an awesome atmosphere for three days of music, fun, friends, and PHun.

Bring your chairs. Bring your cooler. Find your spot. And get ready for the weekend!

🎁 Help Us Fill a Volkswagen Thing for Toys for Tots!

We’re working on some more fun things for this year’s event — including something that will help make Christmas a little brighter for children in need.

This year, we’re planning a Toys for Tots Drive with a very special vehicle involved.

We’re going to try to fill up a Volkswagen Thing with toys!

If you’ve seen Jimmy Buffett’s “Fruitcakes” music video, you may remember the Volkswagen Thing that Jimmy Buffett was driving.

Well, we’re bringing that iconic VW spirit to the Biloxi Box Set!

🚙🎁 Let’s Make That Thing Overflow!

The Marines will also be available to help us with this toy drive, and we’re asking everyone attending the festival to join in.

Don’t forget to bring a new, unwrapped toy to this year’s event!

Our goal is simple:

We want that VW Thing overflowing with toys for underprivileged kids!

So while you’re packing your chairs, cooler, festival gear, and Parrot Head decorations, throw a new, unwrapped toy in the car, too.

Let’s show what the Parrot Head community can do when we come together!

A Salute to the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club

On June 28, Parrot Heads everywhere proudly celebrate National Parrot Head Day, a day dedicated to the music, lifestyle, friendships, and charitable spirit inspired by the late and legendary Jimmy Buffett.

For members of the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club, this day is more than an excuse to wear Hawaiian shirts, enjoy cheeseburgers in paradise, and raise a margarita with friends. It is a celebration of a community built on friendship, service, and a shared philosophy that life is meant to be enjoyed while making the world a little better along the way.

How Did the Name “Parrot Head” Begin?

The term “Parrot Head” was born during the early days of Jimmy Buffett concerts in the 1980s. Just as fans of the Grateful Dead became known as “Deadheads,” Buffett’s colorful, tropical-loving fans earned the nickname “Parrot Heads” because of the bright parrot hats, tropical shirts, leis, and beach attire they wore to concerts.

Legend has it that the nickname was first used by Timothy Schmit of the Eagles after noticing the sea of colorful fans in the audience. The name stuck, and a movement was born.

From Concert Parking Lots to a Worldwide Family

What started as tailgating before concerts evolved into something much larger in 1989 when Scott Nickerson founded the first organized Parrot Head Club in Atlanta, Georgia.

Nickerson envisioned more than just a fan club. He wanted to create an organization where people could enjoy music, friendship, and social activities while also serving their communities.

By 1994, Parrot Heads in Paradise was established to support local clubs and unite Parrot Heads around the globe. Today, the organization includes more than 200 clubs across the United States as well as chapters in Canada, Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean, making it one of the largest fan-based charitable organizations in the world.

Partying With a Purpose

Perhaps the phrase that best defines the Parrot Head community is:

“Party With a Purpose.”

Parrot Heads have always believed that having fun and helping others go hand in hand. Across the world, clubs volunteer countless hours and raise millions of dollars for local charities, environmental causes, food banks, veterans organizations, animal rescues, children’s programs, and disaster relief efforts.

Collectively, Parrot Head clubs have contributed millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to communities everywhere.

The Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club proudly carries on this tradition along Mississippi’s beautiful Gulf Coast. Whether supporting local charities, organizing fundraisers, volunteering at community events, or simply bringing smiles and tropical vibes wherever they go, club members embody the very best of what it means to be a Parrot Head.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

Although Jimmy Buffett sailed into the great beyond in 2023, his message remains stronger than ever:

  • Enjoy the journey.
  • Take care of your neighbors.
  • Give back to your community.
  • Never underestimate the healing power of good music, good friends, and a sunset over the water.

Every gathering, every fundraiser, every beach cleanup, every concert, and every laugh shared among friends keeps that spirit alive.

Fins Up, Biloxi!

So today, on National Parrot Head Day, the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club celebrates not only the music that brought us together, but the friendships and service that keep us together.

Here’s to the beaches, the sunsets, the stories, the music, and the memories still waiting to be made.

Because being a Parrot Head isn’t just about where you’ve been or what songs you know.

It’s about finding your own little piece of paradise — and inviting others to join you there.

Fins Up, Biloxi! Happy National Parrot Head Day!

“May your flip-flops never break, your blender never fail, and may you always find yourself somewhere between the Gulf Coast and Margaritaville.”

Carrie Welling is officially scheduled to perform at the 8th Annual Biloxi Box Set Music Festival on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Taking place right on the beach behind the South Beach Biloxi Hotel & Suites in Biloxi, Mississippi, this premier coastal weekend merges tropical rock, Americana storytelling, and local fundraising. Welling will anchor the late afternoon slot on the final day of the multi-day festival.

From “Military Brat” to Nashville Stardom

Raised in a nomadic military family, Welling’s music often explores heavy themes of unrooted life, intense heartbreak, and self-discovery. Her father introduced her to songwriting at age six, sparking a lifelong dedication to musical storytelling. Today, she is widely recognized for her rich, sultry voice and deeply vulnerable lyrics, drawing frequent comparisons to legends like Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks.

A Evolving, Mature Sound

Welling’s newest record, A Crack in the Chaos, highlights a sophisticated evolution in her songwriting. The album seamlessly blends contemporary Americana-pop melodies with raw, honest acoustic foundations. Produced alongside Nashville’s top-tier session musicians, her recent songs reflect the deep emotional connection she shares with her loyal community of listeners, whom she affectionately calls her “Wellos”.

Festival Schedule & Ticketing Details

The festival is organized by the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club. Proceeds from this year’s ticket sales directly support military veterans across the Mississippi Gulf Coast in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

On This Day in Jimmy Buffett History: A Gulf Coast Reflection

Every Parrot Head knows that Jimmy Buffett didn’t just write songs — he built a way of life. His music, his stories, and his unmistakable Gulf Coast spirit continue to ripple through our communities, our gatherings, and our sunsets. Today, we take a moment to look back at a special “On This Day” moment in Buffett history and celebrate the legacy that still inspires the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club.

June 14, 2020 — Buffett Tops the Charts Again

On June 14, 2020, Jimmy Buffett proved once again that the world still craved a little sunshine, saltwater, and storytelling. His album Life on the Flip Side climbed to No. 1 on the U.S. Country Albums chart, marking his highest chart position in more than 15 years. It also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, becoming his 12th Top 10 album.

For longtime fans — especially here along the Mississippi Gulf Coast — this moment felt like a reminder that Buffett’s music remains timeless. Even decades into his career, he was still capturing hearts, still inspiring daydreams, and still giving us all a reason to raise a margarita and sing along.

A Look Back at the Live Magic

June 14 also marks another classic Buffett moment: his 1992 performance in Raleigh, NC during the Recession Recess Tour. The setlist was packed with favorites like “Come Monday,” “One Particular Harbour,” “Changes in Latitudes,” and of course “Margaritaville.”

Shows like these are the reason Parrot Heads exist — gatherings where the music becomes a memory, the crowd becomes a family, and the world feels just a little lighter.

Why It Matters to Us

Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Buffett’s legacy hits close to home. His stories echo our beaches, our breezes, our boats, and our easygoing way of life. The Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club carries that spirit forward — through charity, community, and good old-fashioned fun.

Every “On This Day” moment is a reminder that Buffett’s world is still alive in ours. It’s in every beach chair, every steel drum, every sunset toast, and every friend we meet along the way.

Fins Up, Biloxi

As we celebrate another day in Buffett history, we also celebrate the people who keep his legacy alive — Parrot Heads like you. Whether you’re from Gulfport, Ocean Springs, D’Iberville, Pascagoula, Bay St. Louis, or anywhere in between, you’re part of a community built on music, kindness, and coastal joy.

Here’s to Jimmy. Here’s to the Gulf Coast. Here’s to living life on the flip side — today and every day.

Fins up, y’all!
