A Band Built for the Beach: The Jonas Lorence Story

Formed in Austin, Texas, the Jonas Lorence Band has carved out a national reputation for high‑octane performances, soulful guitar work, and a sound that blends trop rock, blues, Americana, and coastal country. Frontman Jonas Lorence, known for his fiery guitar solos and charismatic stage presence, built the band from the ground up, touring relentlessly across the country and becoming a staple at Parrot Head events, beach festivals, and coastal music gatherings.

Albums & Musical Style

The band’s discography showcases their versatility and coastal roots:

  • Saltwater Gypsy – A fan favorite album filled with breezy, beach‑driven melodies and road‑trip‑ready guitar riffs.
  • Shoreline Drive – A more reflective collection blending blues influences with coastal storytelling.
  • Sunset Electric – Their most energetic release, packed with upbeat tracks that have become festival staples.

Their music is often described as sun‑soaked rock with a tropical twist—the perfect soundtrack for a Gulf Coast sunset.

Their return in 2026 isn’t just exciting—it feels inevitable. The band and the Biloxi crowd have a chemistry that can’t be manufactured.

Carrie Welling is officially scheduled to perform at the 8th Annual Biloxi Box Set Music Festival on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Taking place right on the beach behind the South Beach Biloxi Hotel & Suites in Biloxi, Mississippi, this premier coastal weekend merges tropical rock, Americana storytelling, and local fundraising. Welling will anchor the late afternoon slot on the final day of the multi-day festival.

From “Military Brat” to Nashville Stardom

Raised in a nomadic military family, Welling’s music often explores heavy themes of unrooted life, intense heartbreak, and self-discovery. Her father introduced her to songwriting at age six, sparking a lifelong dedication to musical storytelling. Today, she is widely recognized for her rich, sultry voice and deeply vulnerable lyrics, drawing frequent comparisons to legends like Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks.

A Evolving, Mature Sound

Welling’s newest record, A Crack in the Chaos, highlights a sophisticated evolution in her songwriting. The album seamlessly blends contemporary Americana-pop melodies with raw, honest acoustic foundations. Produced alongside Nashville’s top-tier session musicians, her recent songs reflect the deep emotional connection she shares with her loyal community of listeners, whom she affectionately calls her “Wellos”.

Festival Schedule & Ticketing Details

The festival is organized by the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club. Proceeds from this year’s ticket sales directly support military veterans across the Mississippi Gulf Coast in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Every Parrot Head knows that Jimmy Buffett didn’t just write songs — he built a way of life. His music, his stories, and his unmistakable Gulf Coast spirit continue to ripple through our communities, our gatherings, and our sunsets. Today, we take a moment to look back at a special “On This Day” moment in Buffett history and celebrate the legacy that still inspires the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club.

June 14, 2020 — Buffett Tops the Charts Again

On June 14, 2020, Jimmy Buffett proved once again that the world still craved a little sunshine, saltwater, and storytelling. His album Life on the Flip Side climbed to No. 1 on the U.S. Country Albums chart, marking his highest chart position in more than 15 years. It also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, becoming his 12th Top 10 album.

For longtime fans — especially here along the Mississippi Gulf Coast — this moment felt like a reminder that Buffett’s music remains timeless. Even decades into his career, he was still capturing hearts, still inspiring daydreams, and still giving us all a reason to raise a margarita and sing along.

Life on the Flip Side – Jimmy Buffett (Released May 29, 2020)

A Look Back at the Live Magic

June 14 also marks another classic Buffett moment: his 1992 performance in Raleigh, NC during the Recession Recess Tour. The setlist was packed with favorites like “Come Monday,” “One Particular Harbour,” “Changes in Latitudes,” and of course “Margaritaville.”

Shows like these are the reason Parrot Heads exist — gatherings where the music becomes a memory, the crowd becomes a family, and the world feels just a little lighter.

Why It Matters to Us

Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Buffett’s legacy hits close to home. His stories echo our beaches, our breezes, our boats, and our easygoing way of life. The Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club carries that spirit forward — through charity, community, and good old-fashioned fun.

Every “On This Day” moment is a reminder that Buffett’s world is still alive in ours. It’s in every beach chair, every steel drum, every sunset toast, and every friend we meet along the way.

Fins Up, Biloxi

As we celebrate another day in Buffett history, we also celebrate the people who keep his legacy alive — Parrot Heads like you. Whether you’re from Gulfport, Ocean Springs, D’Iberville, Pascagoula, Bay St. Louis, or anywhere in between, you’re part of a community built on music, kindness, and coastal joy.

Here’s to Jimmy. Here’s to the Gulf Coast. Here’s to living life on the flip side — today and every day.

Fins up, y’all!

Get ready to dip your toes in the sand, raise a glass, and rock out for an incredible cause! On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Towns Around Biloxi Parrot Head Club (TABPHC) is once again teaming up to host the highly anticipated 2nd Annual “And We Drink” Music Festival. This single-day, beachfront celebration brings together tropical rock enthusiasts, locals, and visitors alike to enjoy great music while supporting a powerful mission of giving back.

The Inspiring Story Behind “And We Give”

Last year’s inaugural festival was born out of a community emergency: a mission to “phundraise” for beloved local musician Rain Jaudon after his vital entertainment equipment was stolen. Following that massive success, Rain decided to permanently pay it forward. He founded “And We Give,” a Mississippi-registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Today, this charity acts as a critical safety net, providing emergency financial relief, resource connection, and support to local artists and musicians who are facing unexpected hardships.

A Dynamic Music Lineup

A stellar group of musicians are generously donating their time and talents to the cause. The event features a completely laid-back atmosphere with music running non-stop. Pull up a chair and enjoy the official schedule:

  • 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Lee Bosarge
  • 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Greg Dillard
  • 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Bob Durand
  • 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM: Johnny Mire
  • 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM: Lloyd Munn

Event Details & How to Help

This festival is entirely focused on music, sunshine, and community support—meaning there is no cover charge and no stress.

  • Location: The South Beach Hotel Outdoor Pavilion, located right on the coast at 1735 Beach Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39531.
  • Time: Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until 10:00 PM.
  • What to Bring: Attendees are encouraged to embrace the casual Parrot Head lifestyle. Bring your own beach/lawn chairs and BYOB (bring your own beverages).
  • Fundraising: While entry is free, your generosity is what keeps local artists on track. Raffles and auction items will be available throughout the day, and any direct monetary donations are heavily welcomed.

Whether you stay for one band or hang out for the entire 10-hour marathon, your presence means the world to the Gulf Coast music community. Come out, enjoy some tunes, and help a fantastic charity give back to those who provide the soundtrack to our lives.
